The Letter
El Cahoon
Liam, it’s like I don’t know who you are;
I often wonder if I ever really knew.
At night in my dreams I see you-
As if this gap between us-
You and me- had never really been,
And that you and I together were still happy-
That you still loved me,
And not once did you think to leave.
Though when I wake, you’re no longer there…
You’ve left to fill the void I-or any of us- could not.
I pray it makes you stronger,
And returns you back to me- to us.
And heed what I write-
I understand. It’s okay.
I know that you don’t love us anymore.
I honor your wish to venture on your endeavors,
After this letter you’ll never hear from me.
But as your sister, I’ll always love you.
